Abstract: In this study, the relations between inflation-growth-fixed
capital investment have been analyzed by employing methods of correlation, time
series and simultaneous equations for the Turkish economy over the period 1976-
2003. The relation between inflation and growth has been analyzed regarding
three models including total, public and private fixed capital investments. While
there is a positive relation between growth-fixed capital investment, in each case
negative relation has been found between inflation-growth and inflation-fixed
capital investment. Contrary to Mundell-Tobin effect, these results support the
neoclassical view that inflation adversely affects growth and fixed capital
investments in the Turkish economy.
