Öz


Abstract

Focus of control can be defined as an individual’s control over events happening around them and individuals perceptions of them selved regarding their behaviours. Focus of control is considered an important aspect of personality in psychology. Focus of control is personal understanding of real reasons behind of life events.

The purpose of this study is to examine the levels of focus of control according to different variables. The sample of this study consisted of student from Atatürk University. The scale of Rotter’s internal and exernal focus of control is used to determine visual art teachers focus of control. This is a descriptive study, A total of 75 students from (18 first year, 28 second year, 13 third year and 16 touth year) the department of art education. There were 32 male and 43 female students. SPSS 13.0 statistical software was used to analize the data chi square were calculated and used to determine if the relationship among variables were meaningful. The level of significance is assumed at p<0.05.

In conclusion, there were not found any meaningful relationships in visual art teacher candidates from different that art education students had high scores of iner focus of control. In terms of gender, there were meaningful differences and female students had more iner focus of control than male students. In adition, it was found that there was a positive realionship between focus of control and academic success. Based on the data it can be said that, teachers candidats with highger focus of control will likely have more academic success.
