Abstract

Toprakkale village, which is far apart from the centre of the Eleşkirt town, takes place north end of Eleşkirt lowland, at the old Bayezit crossroad. Having an important location even in Urartu age, in Toprakkale there is a tumulus belongs to this age.  During Yavuz Sultan Selim’s state of war, Toprakkale (Toprak-Hisar) has been added to Ottoman country, in Ottoman age it had become a town centre contingent on Bayezit standard, centre of the town had become a village in the event of the movement of the town centre to Eleşkirt (Zedikan) in 1925.

In southwest of the mosque there is a cemetery where there are too many graves belonged Ottoman age. Having well –qualified workmanship the great part of the grave stones were broken and dispersed to left and to right.
